Souls That Pulse for Him by April Nixon

Souls That Pulse for Him by April Nixon

From an early age, I began experiencing what I call “God Moments.”  I didn’t share these moments, experiences and conversations with anyone, but it wasn’t lost upon me how profound they were.  You see, we didn’t discuss callings and spiritual gifts growing up in my church.  I now see that I felt my calling, deep within, since that early age; even when I didn’t fully understand what that meant.

There is nothing more frustrating than a nagging feeling that you’re meant to do so much more with your life, but you’re not sure how.  For many years I was searching for my purpose in activities and not in God.  Those activities only brought upon more frustration.  It wasn’t until I began serving in resKids that the spark really became a flame.  I was beginning to walk in my purpose!  And you know what? The more obedient I became in answering His calling in the small things, He began revealing to me the bigger things He had waiting for me.  The calling He had been whispering into my soul for decades.  I wish I hadn’t wasted so much time!

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.  Ephesians 2:10

I’m convinced that children are searching for their purpose at an early age. It is my desire to cultivate an atmosphere where our children know they have spiritual gifts and a higher purpose in this world.  When a child is given a voice and empowered to become a part within the Body of Christ, they have less time for inconsequential things of this world.

Where do we start?

  1. PRAY!  Pray for God to reveal our children’s spiritual gifts to us.
  2. Let our children witness us walking within our calling and using our spiritual gifts to further His Kingdom.
  3. Observe and keep a journal on your child.  Write down activities or moments that give your child life; where they truly come alive, especially in the ordinary moments of life.
  4. Point out achievements and affirm them.
  5. Expose our children to the endless possibilities of serving others.

Let’s teach our children to be mighty, spiritual, DIFFERENCE MAKERS!  Let’s not settle for a passive life.  We are designed for so much more than merely living!  As Dan Allender says:

“It matters little what problem, population or place you tackle.  It only matters that something in your soul pulses with eternity to join the cast of characters that ventures to create glory and beauty out of the ashes of The Fall.”

We are raising up the next generation of the Army of God.  Let’s prepare them at an early age for their fight!  Let’s equip them by training them up.  Let’s speak their truths to them.  Accepting Christ is just the beginning!  Let’s reveal how adventures with God are limitless!  May the souls of our children pulse for HIM!
